Breathe Deep, Sleep Well: Prioritising sleep health this World Sleep Day
At Goodair, we believe in the power of breathing for better health. But there is another critical pillar of health that is inextricably linked to how we breathe - sleep.
It's not just downtime or a luxury, it's a necessity. As the theme of World Sleep Day 2026 encapsulates - Sleep Well, Live Better.
Just like nutrition and physical activity, sleep is a fundamental requirement for human functionality. When we sleep, our bodies aren't just resting; they’re actively preparing us for the day ahead and supporting our long-term health.
When sleep is compromised, the impact is immediate and significant.
The Silent Sleep Stealer
Nasal congestion (or being "stuffed up"), is a major disruptor of sleep health. Unfortunately, we’ve all been there: you lay your head down after a long day, only to realise your nose is completely blocked - and just like that, getting a good night’s sleep feels a lot harder.
This simple sleep disturbance can prevent reaching the deep, restorative stages of sleep that we absolutely need. Many people can relate to a blocked nose creating a cycle of sleep anxiety - you worry about not sleeping, now it's even harder to drift off, and suddenly you're sleep deprived, anxious, AND mouth breathing.
There's a lot to discuss when it comes to mouth breathing, but a key takeaway is that it can increase the likelihood of developing nasal congestion. That's right, there's another cycle developing: you can't breathe through your nose, so you mouth breathe, which increases your nasal congestion - and the chances of you sleeping poorly.
It's not all bad news though, these cycles can be interrupted (with the help of some handy dandy 'buds).

How Nosebuds support sleep health
Put simply, Nosebuds are designed to support your body along its natural processes to clear mucus and enhance airflow. 'Bye 'bye blocked nose 👋
The more you use Nosebuds, the better your airway health will be, resulting in being able to tap into a major sleeping hack - nasal breathing.Airflow through our nose actually stimulates brain activity linked to regulating sleep staging (like REM) and also duration - directly influencing sleep quality and efficiency.
Nasal breathing also heats and humidifies inhaled air, preventing airways from drying out - which means no more late night wake ups to desperately chug water (and subsequent trips to the bathroom). You're welcome.

Make a plan to sleep better this World Health Day. Here's a few tips from us to you.
1. Prioritize consistency: Set a regular bedtime and wake time to support your body’s natural rhythm. Going to bed and getting up at roughly the same time each day helps regulate your internal clock, making it easier to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed.
2. Optimize your space: Your sleep environment plays a role in how well you rest. Aim to keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down and create the ideal conditions for uninterrupted sleep.
3. Prep your airways: Incorporate Nosebuds into your nightly routine to keep your nose clear and ready for a night of breathing well (through your nose) - resulting in deep, restorative rest. You can be in control of your sleep health.
